PAU Inks Pact for Commercialization of Brinjal and Chilli Hybrids

The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has inked a pact with Ruchi Hi-Rich Seeds Private Limited, Indore for the commercialisation of Chilli Hybrid CH 27 and Brinjal PBH 4.

Dr N.S. Bains, Director of Research, PAU, Dr. Jagdish Kumar, Vice President (R&D) Ruchi Hi-Rich Seeds Indore, signed the Memorandum of Agreement on behalf of their respective organizations. Dr Ajmer Singh Dhatt, Head, Department of Vegetable Science, PAU added that PBH-4 bears purple-black fruits that are medium in size and long in shape. PBH 4 is high yielding, early maturing and thornless. Besides, it has also been identified for release at the national level under the All India Coordinated Research Project.

Dr. Salesh Jindal, Assistant Vegetable Breeder, Department of Vegetable Science added CH-27 is high yielding hybrid with multiple resistances to leaf curl virus, fruit rot and root knot nematodes. The plants are spreading and continue to bear fruits for long time. Its fruits are light green, long and medium in pungency. The hybrid is suitable for powder making and processing purposes.

Dr. S.S. Chahal, Adjunct Professor, Technology Marketing and IPR Cell informed that PAU has signed 200 MoAs and commercialized 45 technologies including hybrid lines of mustard, chilli, brinjal, bio-fertilizers, leaf colour chart, apple cider, and other technologies such as Lucky seed drill, PAU Super SMS, bacteriological water testing kit, PAU happy seeder, PAU cutter-cum-spreader, etc.
